Visitors
We understand how important it is to have loved ones or carers visit you when you are in hospital. This is why we have flexible visiting hours between 8am and 10 pm to suit each individual’s own wellbeing and needs.
If you are a visitor, please read these guidelines for supporting your relative or friend.
Do not visit if you are currently suffering from a respiratory illness or infection, such as a cough, cold or flu.
Do not visit if you have suffered from vomiting or diarrhoea within the last 48 hours, or been in close contact with someone with these symptoms.
The patient will need all their energy to recuperate from their surgery. As a result, the risk of infection to them needs to be minimised. Therefore, in addition:
Please wash your hands when entering and leaving the hospital. Use hand sanitiser as required.
Follow any local infection control measures as directed by staff and by signage.
Please do not bring plants or flowers to the hospital.
Please also do not bring any cooked food into the hospital.
Visitors are welcome to wait with the patient until they are called to theatre. They will be asked to leave once it is time for the patient to go to the operating theatre.
The patient’s chosen contact will be informed of their recovery as soon as possible. When the patient is feeling well enough, visitors will be invited back in accordance with the patient’s wishes.
To ensure that both patients and visitors are well rested, we request that all visitors leave the hospital by 10 p.m., as sleep is incredibly important for recovery.
