Anthony MacQuillan is a highly-esteemed plastic and reconstructive surgeon from the UK with over 25 years’ experience, including 10 years as an NHS consultant. He graduated from the Royal London Hospital in 1997 and completed his specialist training in 2008. He was awarded his doctorate of medicine from the University of London in 2007 for a thesis on free functional muscle transfer.
Anthony currently works full time in private practice in the South West of England. Before devoting himself exclusively to aesthetic surgery 10 years ago, Anthony served as an NHS consultant at the Peripheral Nerve Injury Unit in The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, an indication of the breadth of his experience and his profound knowledge base. He ran a specialist free functional muscle transfer service to restore limb muscle function following severe nerve injury.
Anthony’s commitment to the profession goes beyond the operating theatre. He is Vice President of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, having served on the council since 2019. He is a regular lecturer on facial rejuvenation surgery, and a respected teacher and trainer of fellow surgeons. His innovative approach includes unique practices like facial nerve monitoring during facelift procedures, which minimises risks and ensures surgical precision. He has made noteworthy academic contributions, having produced over 30 research papers and a doctoral thesis, a reflection of his commitment to advancing his field.
Anthony enjoys surfing, squash and restoring cars in his spare time.
